Could it be that these people may have had homosexual desires and are speaking from experience?
Seriously, I wonder if most people maybe when they were young or perhaps in college had some sort of homosexual fling. Not saying I believe in Freud’s theory regarding homosexuality that we were all born bisexual and that gay people are narcissist (or something like that). I just speak from experience that when I was young I had many gay flings with several guys whom are now married or consider themselves straight. So again I ask perhaps the reason so many people believe it is a choice is because they had a homosexual encounter and are very shamed because of it. They think that because they overcame their own gay experience that this must mean that gay people choose to stay gay.

It's a fine theory - one which I hadn't considered. My reaction to the idea of homosexuality being a choice is that it results from the "wishful thinking" of people who do not understand sexual impulses towards the same sex but just want the person to change or "get better". The idea of "getting better" or "recovering" would be derived from the notion that homosexuality is "not normal" - and to be fair homosexuality is not the norm. To some people I think that equates to something having "gone wrong" and can therefore be fixed. Like when you're sick you get treatment type of thing.
I think that to anyone who has had a sexual encounter with the same sex this would sound like what it is - a completely ludicrous idea. Therefore I have trouble believing that people who have had homsexual encounters might think this.
I suspect the idea of homosexuality being a choice has been spread through proganda, religious or political and that it has proved popular with people who have a gay person in their lives (perhaps a son or daughter) and whom they desperately want to change - perhaps they think they'll have an easier life if they do so. This idea of choice gives them hope that it can happen.

But I personally think that the notion is derived from cynical propaganda that is kept alive by people who have less rather than more understanding of the homosexual impulse.

I agree; I think more people have had homosexual encounters than they are willing to admit. And maybe because they walked away from those easily enough, they then assume that everyone else operates the same way.

But I think the single biggest reason people assume that being gay is a choice is because most Christian belief systems purport that homosexuality is a sin. Because of our own culture, and our emphasis on "personal responsibility," most folks equate sinning with making a wrong moral choice. God punishes people for the choices they make, not for the way they are born. Right?

Indeed, most Americans are probably unwilling to sustain belief in a God that punishes people for something over which they have no control. (The exceptions are Catholics, who are taught that the mere act of being human is a sin.)

For the same reason they believe that Atheism (or, name your closet) is a choice ... Ignorance.

I believe that some straight, bi and homosexuals, tranvestities and transgendered people buy into the choice idea, disregarding the truth about themselves. They were led astray with this picture. It doesn't work though, because at some point they will meet themselves honestly and realize that they were born the way they are and have always truly felt so. As experts in their particular lifestyle, they may help propagate the false idea of choice. Making that idea credible.

In colusion with those that hate, disagree or otherwise are ignorant of these lifestyles, therefore, they have helped the idea of choice to become the dominant argument of explaining why they are the way they are.

I hope they are all well.

I do not believe it is a choice, my belief is that gays are born gay. I know many people who have been married with a family and then left their partners and are now in a gay relationship and many have said that they were afraid of coming out of the closet when they were teenagers and have had to live a lie for many years as before society did not accept gays very well. Even now there are still many people who do not accept them and they deserve to be respected as any other human being.

Because some people seem to actually lack any sort of empathy or what science calls 'theory of mind". This means the are unable to see things from someone else's perspective. It is actually quite sad but it does happen. We should feel sorry for these people as they are emotionally and socially stunted... I'm sure everyone knows someone who is completely incapable of seeing someone else's side in an argument even if they still feel they are correct.
They genuinely can not see that it is as hard for them to "go gay" as it would be for a gay person to go straight. Unfortunately - it is quite POINTLESS arguing with someone like that as they do not have the intellectual capacity to understand your point of view.....
Very sad really.

Humans are bound by nature because humans are a part of nature.
Humans are incapable of acting unnaturally... it is a natural variation just like blue eyes or brown eyes.
Homosexuality is also expressed in the animal kingdom.
In many animals, it has a survival value because animals that express bisexual or homosexual behaviors are more likely to be accepted into a new group (flock, pack, pride, etc) as they are not seen as a competitor.

i'm sorry, yet i'm looking it very troublesome to understand what you're asserting via misuse of words and strange sentence shape. If I misread what you're saying, please splendid your writing and then i visit be waiting to respond greater accurately. My information is that maximum Christians have self belief that no person ought to be gay. As your citation shows, there's a theory that homosexuality is a 'perversion'. you start up by skill of asserting that the difficulty of homosexuality is being reported at your college, and later say which you 'used to think of like that for the period of intense college', suggesting you at the instant are no longer in college. it is it? i discover it troublesome to understand why everyone regards love for yet another man or woman as incorrect. that's biologically organic to precise a undeniable style of love in sexual techniques. Many different animals, besides as people, prepare sexual activity in somebody/yet another animal of their species who's a similar intercourse. there is very lots of discussion approximately why this ought to be, which strikes me as strange - why no longer? Why ought to all sexual intercourse be approximately procreation? maximum heterosexuals take measures, quicker or later, to sidestep theory, so if all intercourse is meant to be approximately procreation, any efforts to sidestep that (alongside with by skill of abstinence from intercourse) might logically be seen as incorrect. Why are some people heterosexual? in actuality that our sexuality is a creation of the blend between our innate nature and our journey - no-one is born heterosexual (have you ever met a baby who only desires to narrate to the choice intercourse?). Later: if liking "boobs" is what makes you (probably as a male) heterosexual, i will only say that your objectification of girls individuals does no longer bode nicely for any style of exact relationship with any female. If that's a Christian information of relationship, thank goodness i'm no longer a Christian. i'm attracted to actual relationships, the place 2 people meet completely as persons - no be counted what gender the two of them ensue to be.

It's a cop out or an excuse. Homosexuality is about the perversion of sex and the dementia that takes over once one allows themselves to fall willingly into this perversion.
Just like most sinful people who know they are doing wrong of course they are going to say it's not their fault for having same gender sex.
Don't be fooled by that crap. they blame God for making them Gay and then they turn around and shun God as a fable and a lie to radicate their twisted lifestyle.
It's one sin that leads to more sin that eventually leads to blasphemy.
