on the start menu click "run"and type "msconfig"when this box opens, look on the top,and click on "startup"hee you will find a list of most things that startup with windows.uncheck the items that you dont want to start.then press"Apply"be careful unchecking the wrong items will cause something to malfunction.

to take them off your start up list just right click after you click on your start menue and
goto remove from this list .
Or you can do it the long way and do a msconfig at the start menue, Left click on Start, then left click on Run.
In the box that appears, type this: msconfig
From the next box choose Startup and then delete what you don't want, but why?
To uninstall goto control panel and goto add remove programs and there select the offensive programs to uninstall them. Do not just delete them it might mess up your reg.files.

if you think you have too many things... there are two ways of doing this:

click on start, go to "all programs" and look for the "startup" folder, if you see anything there that you know you don't want to load up when your computer starts, right click on it, and then select "delete".

there are some other programas that sart up by themselves and do not show on the folder, to avoid this, click on "start" then go to "run" and type "msconfig" and hit enter.

when the pop-up windows appears, select "startup" and a bunch of different programas wil be listed with little check boxes to the left, un-check those that you do not want to start at boot-up then click ok, and restart.

and if you want you could uninstall the programs that you know for sure that you don't want. go to "start" select "control panel" switch to "classic view" then look for install and uninstall programs, when you open this utility, a list of programs will appear on each one of them, that you know you don't want, click "modify/delete" and follow the instructions.

hopefully it will help you.

Whoa!! Changing start wont stop certain downloading. I noticed youre in "security" info.

Those little monsters are in several places on your computer. The Registry will for sure, have programs that will become active upon start up that you dont even know about. They have "self healing" properties, so taking out C:\ programs and using even someing like Spybot wont fix them permanently. Those are the culprets for security you want to rid of. Problem is Where in Registry are they??? They could be anywhere in that moster file of the Registry.

I think for the regular computer user, something like Spybot is so useful. It locates the culprets and helps the average person rid of them. Those that are in the Registry require a special attention. So if you use like Spybot follow these instructions, or just using FIX in spybot and them telling you it is fixed, is inadequate. Next time you start you computer, it will load up off of that contaminated registry and you still have those culprets. So follow this, you need to shut down the registry while you delete them

1. Run something like Spybot, but DO NOT FIX
2. Go to Start, programs, Accesories, system, system restore.
3. Click on the shut down box
4. then go back to spybot and click FIX and it will say fixed.
5. Go back to system restore and reactivate it.

Now next time you start your compute it will start off of a cleaned out registry and those bugs will be GONE.

Its important to realize that you computer starts often out of a contaminated registry. Sure things Mcaffee and Norton remove from the REGISTRY are gone temporarly, but if in the registry, they will be there because you start off a contaminated registry.

Start | run | msconfig
click on start tab
then uncheck the programs to start at startup
then apply and ok
then you'll have to restart the computer for the changes to apply

You need to go into your registry to perm delete them. I would look for a regedit site on the net.
