They do get credit, too much credit. Hype-U (Notre Dame) was THE MOST OVERRATED TEAM in 2006. No way they deserved a BCS bid, NONE. The got decimated by the only 2 quality teams they faced during the season. Not to mention what LSU did to them. Then you have teams like Wisconsin with only 1 loss getting left out because they didn't have a hyped up overrated QB. BCS is a joke and Notre Dame was too, at least last season.

The high academic standards is what sets Notre Dame apart from other football powerhouses. The university has never waivered in it's policy and they deserve credit for that. The players should be acknowledged individually, but the program as a whole is truly deserving of commendation for it's commitment to excellence on and off the field.

As Ryan Harris, a graduating lineman for the Irish said, when he was deciding between Notre Dame and Miami, he chose ND because he "wanted to get a degree that actually meant something".

Because as far as football goes in this country all that matters is winning! As unfair as it is it's true! They are a great school for academics (so is Harvard) but no one in the Nation is trying to compare the football program of Notre Dame and Harvard! As a Football program they are very over rated and have proven time and time again they can't win the big game. 9 straight bowl losses????

You are correct. Academically, ND does set the bar pretty high. Unfortunately the National Champ is not decided by GPA. If it was you would have to rank Standford, ND, BC, Penn State and Rutgers....in the top 10 regularly, not to mention Army and Navy
