could you help me with my homework, because i lost my textbook and i am getting one tommorrow

1. how would you define light as an electromagnetic wave?
(i thought the sun would be an example)

2. why is it important that light can travel through space?

If light didn't travel through space there is no way that life on Earth could survive since we get light from the Sun and that light is used for photosynthesis in plants.
