Bohemian is also in relation to Gypsies which have a "laisse-faire" lifestyle so to speak, which could be possible to relate to being a beatnik on certain respects of the philosophy.

My dictionary tells me that a Bohemian is a Czech, a gypsy, one who defies convention. Ortiginated fgrom the belief that gypsies originated in Bohemia.
