unless the bone is sticking out of your skin, there is not much the doctors can do. They will probably take an xray, and then if it's broken the will just tape it up to the adjacent toe or toes.

So tape it up yourself. Use ice and advil to help controll the swelling and stay off it as much as possible.

No I don't think you should go to the doctor, you should go to the hospital. Toes are very fragile, once I broke my baby toe and I had to get a cast. I didn't think it was broken at first because I could walk and I walked on it a lot, but 4 days the swelling wasn't down and it was black and blue,,, I couldn't stand it and then I went to the hospital and they had to put a cast all the way up to my knee. They told me I should have come in right away, when the cast came off, they had to put a second cast because I walked on the broken bone for 4 days. Go now, to emergency, get an -x-ray., then you will know for sure.

Well, it's up to you if you want to go to the doctor. If it is broken, they won't cast it because it's a toe and too small to cast. Put a cotton ball between that toe and the one next to it. Then tape them together to keep the hurt toe immobilized. Keep off of your foot, walk as little as possible and elevate your foot when ever you can. Change the wrap every day, and when ever it gets wet.

If it hurts that bad, then go to the doctor, they can wrap it and give you an anti-inflammatory, and pain meds (maybe).

If you think it's broken, it probably is. It won't do much good to go to the doctor cuz all they'll do is verify it's broken and tell you to wrap it up and take it easy. There's nothing that can be done. Just let it heal. Put some ice on it if it's not done swelling. That will reduce the initial swelling.

Hope it feels better.

Put some ice on it and tape it to the toes next to it. Wear hard-soled shoes. If it's not better in 5 days, go to the doctor. If you're not allergic, take Ibuprofen for the pain.

It's not worth going to the doctor even if it is broken, there's not much they can do except charge you for the x-ray to prove it and put a splint on it. Best bet is to splint it yourself - get some popsicle sticks & medical tape (both available at any wal-mart or drug store) Put popsicle sticks under your toe and tape them in place, then try to stay off it as much as possible - w/in 3 to 4 weeks you'll be fine!

You probably did break your toe. Not much a doctor can do for it. They do not put splints on toes. You can tape it together with the toe next to it for stability. Put ice on it. Take a pain reliever. You probably will not be able to ware a shoe unless open toed. Thats it.

Can you move it?? If not, it may be broken. The swelling should start to dissipate in a day or two. Try an anti-inflammatory like Ibuprofen. If the swelling doesn't go down, see a doc. See a doc now if the discomfort is interupting your peace of mind or sleep.
