Sometimes wehen I am asleep I Feel like I am not able to move or get up. Like my body is parealysed and my breathing will stop but is not blocked. I think it is from puting pressure on the temples of my head, by resting my head on my forearms. I can't find any names for this. If you know what this is I would be happy to learn what it is.

I think that what you may be experiencing is something called, sleep paralysis. It is also called a hypnogogic and/or hypnopompic experience. You can do a yahoo search on sleep paralysis and read about it in the Wikipedia. There are other websites also and one where people talk about their experiences.

I have experienced this many times and it is a frightening experience but not harmful. I disagree with the doctors explanation of this experience. Some of them say this is a dream or hallucination caused by some chemical the brain puts out to paralyze us. To me this is nonsense! I am clearly awake when I experience this and not hallucinating!

I find that to come out of this experience it helps to try and move one toe. Once I can get a toe to move then I can gradually get the rest of my body to move and come into a normal waking state.

Your talking about stopping breathing bothers me. Are you really unable to breathe or are you worried about not being able to breathe? If you actually are not able to breathe at some time during this experience, you may have sleep apnea and that may be a contributing factor to your having this experience. Sleep apnea is a treatable condition and if you are not breathing at times you should get this treated by a docter.

Be reassured. You are not the only one to have this experience and you are not imagining things. I doubt that putting pressure on your temples or resting your head on your forearms has anything to do with what you are experiencing.

You might have sleep apnea. Your breathing stops when you sleep. This disorder can be diagnosed with a sleep test either at home or a more comprehensively at a sleep center/lab.

You need to talk to your doctor. I have it but didn't think it was a big deal. Luckily, my physician is very thorough and caring so I got the right treatment.

Here are 2 links I found on Y! search with more information:

I do not mean to accuse you of anything, but are you on any drugs legal or illegal? This sounds like some sort of withdrawal symptoms from various types of drugs prescription or street and alcohol or caffeine. Look at your daily routine to determine why you are completely over exhausting yourself. good luck pleasant dreams.

Ok, you need more sleep. I have no clue what that's called, sorry. But if you sleep more, you'll have a lot more energy and that might stop. Hopefully that helps. =)
