what are your thoughts about mandatory death sentence for people who are caught distributing drugs in singnapore? Recently there was a execution of 21 year old name Iwuchukwu Amara Tochi from Nigeria....Look up his name on google and read about his story because its truely sad. I think that this is just ignorance and govt not wanting to face the real issues of society. Just because you kill someone for doing something doesnt mean that its going to stop. I believe they need to address this issue in a differnt matter because this is very inhumane and all i see is retalilation and no justice so i wanna know what people think about this.

I think each country has a right to formulate its own laws; and criminals have the opportunity to either be honest, or commit crimes and face the penalty.

This is entirely up to Singapore.

Singapore is like the realization of the oppressive techno-dystopias in stories like Blade Runner. It doesn't surprise me. The people are told they live in democracy when it's really a one party system with brutal disrespect for individual freedoms. It is every sci-fi- writers governmental nightmare, a country where the people are fooled into thinking they are free while the government makes sure it maintains constant control. Mandatory death sentence is exactly the sort of thing a dystopian government would implement. The government does not love its people, only its own power over them.

What any nation does within its borders is really none of our business.

There was a thirteen day trial, there has to be a lot more to the story than what is presented. Before anybody can honestly comment they need to know the whole story.

The drugs and crime in Singapore is incredibly high, they have always held and ran their country in disciplinary state. Everyone is responsible for their actions, no remorse, no public outcry for the accused, and straight to your face attitude from the laws of Singapore.

Maybe the US should get a little more strict with crimes, instead of being too lenient, and criminals(especially pedophiles) often redo their crimes again.

I think the more you kill ofthem the better, and it should be done in the public square, and should be done by being drawn and quartered and televised. Then go after the rest...then lets see how long they run drugs!

Well it does work. Drug addiction and use is minuscule in Singapore compared to the rest of the industrialized world.

I wonder if there are any unbiased reports on drug-abuse in Singapore. Does execution deter use? Personally i think all humans have the personal choice as to whether or not they flush their lives down the toilet.
