That is not the definition of circumvent. It is a verb meaning "to avoid." I paid the fine to circumvent a court judgment.

No, as I explained before, circumvent is not an inhabitant of heaven.
Circumvent is a verb, meaning to talk around something and not get to the point.
It looks like you've copied something down wrongly, doesn't it.

Main Entry: circumvent
Pronunciation: "s&r-k&m-'vent
Function: transitive verb
Etymology: Latin circumventus, past participle of circumvenire, from circum- + venire to come -- more at COME
1 a : to hem in b : to make a circuit around
2 : to manage to get around especially by ingenuity or stratagem
- circumvention /-'ven(t)-sh&n/ noun
These were in another dictionary, but I can't find the link now. I'll try to find it again.
It can also mean to surround.
It can also mean to bypass.
Circum comes from circumference.

Ummm...i've never heard that definition for circumvent before.
The definition I have is as follows: "to manage to get around especially by ingenuity or stratagem" (www.m-w.com)
"They managed to circumvent the initial problem by planning their solution carefully."
