The people I really admire are the ones who live for an idea. Dying is a relatively easy thing to do, but living out one's belief day after day in the face of overwhelming indifference is truly heroic.

I don't admire them...................I RESPECT them! People who are willing to put their lives on the line to stand for something they love or believe in don't just deserve to be admired. They deserve the utmost respect. I might admire a pop star, that doesn't mean I have the highest level of respect for him/her.
I don't know if I would be ready to die for an idea, though!

I admire people like that but, I would not be willing to die for an idea, I have 2 kids to raise and they are more important.

No not all,I find that a waste of a good life...I do not fear death.I know it is inevitable but I have realized awhile back that this one life we live is the rarest form of mass. Before nor after does not matter since right now we are different than the rest of the non living universe,if only for a short while.Make the most it...Sincerely,Tom Science 4

"If you have nothing in your life worth dieing for, indeed you have nothing to live for..."
Cant remember who said it, but it is SO true! I would die for many things, not the least of which is my faith that there is a God and Goddess, that all of the elements are my kith and kin. And yes, my faith is 'just an idea'...
I am curious how many Christians would die for their faith, and I respect every single one of you that post that you would. God/Goddess/the diety of your worship Bless You!

I have a big problem with that, history proves that most of the time people are manipulated in to doing those kind of things for the big guy.

Certianly it seems like a nobel, romantic thing to do. Although I would question the wisdom of such an act....with such strong beliefs, wouldn't they be able to do more alive?

Not exactly admire, but I'm grateful. I wouldn't do it. I'm much too selfish - I want the rewards, not the hard work.
Well I'd do some hard work, but I wouldn't sacrifice myself.
