i started this series and i want to know how many episodes it has

It has been scheduled to air 37 anime episodes. Depending upon how the show is ends and it's popularity (quite popular right now) more could be made.
There are also 2 Live Action movies of Death Note that have been released in Japan (and have been blockbuster hits)
As well as a spin off movie (there have been reports the spin off movie will be about L) that is being made as well.

So far about sixteen. It's in the making. I love that series. It' s good.

actually theres a 36 episodes in total... but its being made in japan... as of subbers... they are on the 15th episode ang get growing...
