Hey, I'm a senior in high school, and I would do almost anything to go back to sophomore year...I really messed up in high school, but that was because I was lazy, anyway, I say that I would give almost anything to go back because you have SO much time to improve...colleges really like to see improvement, it shows that you can learn from mistakes, trust me, you have time to turn things around and get into a good school, if all u do is play trumpet, u should really get involved in school clubs, and maybe start your own, get leadership positions, VOLUNTEER outside of school, is sports aren't your thing thats fine, just make sure you get involved in your school and volunteer outside of school or in any community service clubs at your school, dont go overboard and just join random clubs, it's better to be in fewer clubs and have leadership positions than to be a normal member in a large amount of clubs, also, make sure you're consistent with what you do, colleges dont like to see 1 year of Activity A and 1 year of Activity B, and so on, try to stay in the same clubs/activities each year, colleges like to see that you are dedicated to certain activities, if u try a club and arent liking it, then u can leave and that's fine, but stay committed to activities, if u have time u can also maybe get a job and show colleges that you can handle different responsibilities and u have work experience and can balance your time between school work, extra-curriculars, and work
now, activities are important, but so are academics, as i sed before, your only a sophomore so you have SO much time to improve, think about it, you have the rest of this year, ALL of next year (Junior year is usually considered the most important year) where you can show colleges your improvement, and the first 2 marking periods(aka first semester) of senior year, that is a LOT of time to improve, but dont take that time for granted, it will pass by before you know it, so u HAVE to make sure that you start buckling down and working hard as of NOW, and i mean literally NOW, as some1 else pointed out, try taking some AP/Honors classes if u havent done so already, if it's too late to take these classes this year, take them next year and senior year also because it will look very good on your application if it says that you challenged yourself with these classes and did well (if u work hard u can definitely do well in these classes, its all about time management, dedication, and hard work), also, when u apply to colleges, i believe that u can say your grades were poor as a freshman/sophomore because of depression, but you should definetly check that out with your guidance counselor and/or the colleges to which you will apply...anyway, like i said, u have to start working hard NOW, and u can DEFINITELY get into a good college, dont worry, YOU GOT THIS
the best of luck to you, you can do this
Dedication, Time Management, Hard Work, Motivation

Yes, of course you have time. Even if you don't go directly into a four year college you can go to a community college when in the long run is a very good choice. I myself attend a community college and it's cheaper not mentioning that a lot of 4 year colleges look at your community college grades much more than high school. Good luck.

You are not doing bad, but its good that you want to do better. I was sort of like you my sophmore year(except my gpa was 2.6) and I brought it up to a 3.1(Im a junior just started 2nd semester). It is very possible, I went up .5 in a year, but I did have to get like a 3.7 both semesters. Also, try taking some AP classes next year, and your senior year, because not only will they get you ready for college, but you will also stand out among other applicants.

You've definitely got time. Buckling down is a necessity, but it can be done. It's easy to get caught up in the whole computer scene (see any one of us as an example, lol), but it's not that hard to pull away from once you actually do it. I hope you're getting help for your depression. I think it's great that you want to make positive changes for yourself. Best wishes!

Not likely.
I suggest getting a job at a fast food joint. That way when you graduate, you will already have some seniority when the time comes to work full-time after high school.

Isn't that really up to you.
Colleges will look at your last two years and other factors. But maybe instead of wasting timeon this site your shoudl be working on your school work

if you are doing average without trying, try when you feel like it (ie junior year) if you are trying your hardest, you need tutoring and luck. And you need to apply for scholarships, not big ones- i n alot of cases the winner of a small scholarship in the community is the only person who applies for it.

Yes, you have time. You need to start new good habits when it comes to studying; or you can slip back into those old bad ones. Good Luck!!
