I got a 3.8 (like you, that's so far. I'm just a freshman) If you want advice on raising it, then here are some things I did.

I'd do my homework either right after class or the very same day so that the material was still fresh in my mind. In my notes, I highlighted important keywords, and when I had to read texts, I'd add anything bolded in the text to my notes. I'm actually even dorky enough to color code my classes lol. I have 5 classes, and each class is the color of a highlighter. My notebook/folder color matches the highlighter. And I tried to keep my desk as organized as possible because I think that when I'm organized, my head is more clear, and I can focus better.

For tests, if I was worried, I'd make a quick study guide and sometimes do that trick where you remember things by associating them with something else. Like, say, (because I'm too lazy to think of actual examples) you had to remember apples, oranges, and pears - I'd do something like POA=Prisoner of Azkaban (the Harry Potter book). Also, I guess it probably helps that I had incentive. There was one class I was worried about because the teacher really disliked me. So my grandpa offered to give me 100 bucks if I got an A. It turned out I got 100 for EVERY A.

I don't know if you're a partier or anything, but I also didn't do any of that, either. And I went home every weekend to watch my TV haha, so I made sure to have my hw done before I left for home.

Anyway, good luck next semester!

Your GPA will matter more when you are looking for a job because some employers only want to talk to the high gpaers. But do not despare 2.75 is not bad.

The real question is are you trying your hardest? Are you putting forth your best effort. If you are not then start. If your are then try to get help from your Profs or help learning to study etc.

I think I got a 3.9. If I were you, I'd try to take some classes over. You'd be surprised how much that beginning GPA will weigh you down. I have friends that struggled to get to 3.0 after messing up the first year, even though they performed well afterward.

I had a 4.0, but don't feel bad about your 2.75. It's generally difficult for students in their first semester because they're still trying to adjust to college life. Just set your goals higher this semester.
