The Commonwealth of Puerto Rico will become the 51st state of the Union and is not to far for us to see it. Right now it is just a territory without the benefits and responsibilities for the 3.5 millions of Americans citizens living in Puerto Rico. I think is about time for them to be full Americans.

As a British-American dual citizen, I can honestly say that the people of Britain would never accept statehood within the United States. They would never relinquish their sovereignty to the United States.
The most likely 51st state would be Puerto Rico.

Maybe Peurto Rico, but they seem to prefer their current status.
If a Dem wins in 08, the 51st state will be the state of Denial.

I do not think any of those would happen. I don't think any country in the world would want to make the US any more powerful. Im sure another World War would break out if a country was added to the Union. Plus the stars on our flag would be meaningless, we would need to add one, screwing up the perfect, even arrangement.

Two candidates: US Virgin Islands (more likely) and Puerto Rico (less likely - might have been some time ago but still "too Spanish" for many Americans)

I dont think we'll have a 51st state. Israel will never join the US.
Washington DC is the weirdest thing, isn't it? It's not a state, but it's not really in a state... weird..
