No. A dog's behavior is a direct reflection of it's owner's treatment and discipline (or lack there of). One of the sweetest most lovable dogs I know is a pit bull. I don't think it's fair to blame the breed instead of the owner. I think if you are going to start banning things, it should be abusive dog owners that train their animals to be vicious.

Unjust? Every week there's trouble. If you're mother you are worried. Simple as that.

They were banned long ago in Europe. And also, what is the reason you can spay and neuter them for free?
Wikipedia:
Pit bulls today still retain the predisposition toward dog aggression; however, a properly trained and socialized pit bull can be taught to manage this aggression.

No they should not be banned. The Stafordshire Pitbull is a wonderful dog. They are Loyal and a good companion. They Love children and our mailman. When the breed of dog is trained right, they are the best. Good training, like with any breed is what must be done. The only thing that should be banned from anywhere are bad, handlers. It is all in the handlers way of either making a good dog or making a bad dog. It is humans that have given this breed of dog a bad rap.

No, since any breed of dog can be made crazy (my ex-in-laws had a cute little cockier spaniel that would bite them, it was crazy). That said, there should be laws that should make it more of a crime if your dog (any breed) hurts or kills someone (a criminal offense with a 5 - 7 year mandatory jail sentence if the dog kills someone, 6 months to a year mandatory jail time if the dog bites someone). People should have control of their animals, especially if their animals have the potential of hurting someone. This would be along the lines of gun laws in certain states. If a child gets ahold of a person's gun and hurts someone, the gun owner is held criminally liable. People should realize there are consequences to their actions and not having control of their pets should have consequences.

I think before a person is allowed to have a pit bull, they should have a background check run, pass a test and buy a license.

This country's list of "Unfair & Unjust" keeps getting longer everyday. If humanity would wise up - we could all have ""life, liberty, & the pursuit of happiness" not to mention the abscence of poverty, hunger, homelessness, abuse( of all beings) in all forms -like John Lennon said-"IMAGINE"..all it requires IMHO is like those Beatles wrote/sang...."ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE" Why do we not just learn basic lessons on this planet? I worked in vet med & human med many yrs-never have I met a bad animal or bad kid... ONLY bad owners & bad parents... All we can hope is each of us someday might just work on our own personal improvement & quit focussing on everybody else... & if those who can't or won't could be banned from the rest of our space, & limited to their own, I bet we wouldn't need more & more & more "LAW"- which is Levied According to Wealth....Leads Apathetics Willingly...Lacks Actual Wisdom.... yeah,yeah-rambling again... to this army of one or maybe the choir????the christian bible says some things I feel weren't corrupted thru translation or deleted for "religious requirements" ( more of humanity's infinate "wisdom"...Job 35, especially verse 11.-"Who teaches us more than the beasts of the earth....????"

No, if they have a bad attitude, it is the fault of the owner. They are powerful animals and can be quite deadly, but all the ones I have known are big defensive babies.
