A group of students is incorrectly labeled by the school system as "slow learners." Their teachers and parents have low expectations for them, and their academic progress is negligible. Which one of Karl Marx's concepts would exemplify this type of situation???

Karl Marx never addressed this in his writings. He wrote about the differences between the classes and the rise of capitalism. Much of his writing is focused on the "inevitable" revolution of the proletariat (lower classes) and how they will overthrow the bourgeoisie (upper classes).

However, the sociological concept that best exemplifies this type of the situation would be the "self fulfilling prophecy". It can work both ways - kids (or adults) who are constantly told they can do anything will rise to the challenge and ultimately succeed. On the other hand, individuals who have low expectations of them will ultimately meet those expectations. Self fulfilling prophecy and labeling theory are one in the same. They both get at the same phenomena
