Forget about Indian discriminating against black people,Indian discriminate against their own citizens. I feel sad to say this but 'yes' Indians are hypocrite. Everyone saw how the Indian govt reacted during the Shipa-Goody spat. I don't know why India govt pointed it's finger towards Jade Goody before cleaning its own backyard.I mean whenever a south Indian or a north-easterner visits mainland state like Delhi ,racial remarks about their features or eating habits are thrown at them. The mainland Indians refer to the north-east people of India as " Chinky " and make fun of their features and eating habits. They make fun of the south Indian's accent. They even refer to white people as "Gora" ,which is a racial remark. This is to say, Indian doesn't discriminate only black people ,they do it to everyone.

I think there may be a fancy for fair skin in the context of vanity... but really I don't think there is 'discrimination' because of skin color.. I think 'discrimination' is a strong word. i think people are quite capable of rising above just outward appearance. Just because a person advertises for a 'fair bride or groom' doesn't mean they throw tantrums if, they get a really good partner who has darker complexion.
A smart person would never discriminate or judge a person by just there skin color. So if you find someone doing such offensive activities, it is the offender who has low attitude which is not worth a dime.
I think the victim should find better friends in that society and can establish themselves as a more valuable person in the society. May be finding friends may take a while, but patience pays. I think it is possible to find people who respect others irrespective of their skin color, it is only a matter of time.
So may be your friends who got so angry could have ignored the people who were intolerant and seek people who are tolerant. There are so many people in India, surely you can find such people. Aren't you one of them?

My mother traveled to India two years ago, for a wedding. Sure, people stared, but she wasn't discriminated against. The only things she didn't like was the lack of beef, and the filth.

Read the real history of Gandi and it will answer your question. If I type it here, I sure I will receive violation points.
However keep in mind, that Indians are prejudice towards each other.
When the "mean girls" from CBB5 mentioned that Shilpa wanted to be white, that is not too far from the truth within the indian community.

i think of there may be a fancy for honest epidermis in the context of conceitedness... yet quite i do no longer think of there is 'discrimination' because of the fact of epidermis coloration.. i think of 'discrimination' is a robust word. i think of each and every physique is extremely able to increasing above only outward visual charm. only because of the fact a individual advertises for a 'honest bride or groom' does no longer advise they throw tantrums if, they get a very stable substantial different who has darker complexion. a clever individual could never discriminate or choose a individual by using only there epidermis coloration. So in case you detect somebody doing such offensive activities, that's the criminal who has low approach which isn't worth a dime. i think of the sufferer could discover greater valuable acquaintances in that society and might set up themselves as a greater valuable individual in the society. may be looking acquaintances might take a together as, yet staying power will pay. i think of that's obtainable to discover people who admire others irrespective of their epidermis coloration, that's barely a rely of time. So may be your human beings who have been given so offended might have surpassed over the human beings who have been illiberal and seek for people who're tolerant. there are maximum of human beings in India, quite you will discover such human beings. are not you one in each and every of them?

I don't know India but I've noticed the lower the caste the darker the skin, so they, your black friends, must resemble the lowest castes and don't deserve respect because I think low caste means less of a person or some crap.

i totally agree with you
thats all to do with our education and upbringing in society
we discriminate darker skinned fellow indians
we advertise for a fairer bride and grooms in papers
most of the comedy characters in movies are dark skinned
when ever movie directors want to show ugly person they put black paint to face
with all these you can question racism by westerners

No Indians don't hate blacks and to mention indians skincolor is not always white.Even here you can find people with black skin.
But generally indians can be easily distinguished.
India is meant for cultural diversity. This is what world knows.
Please don't make this racist.
