How well do you think these issues are covered? Are they swayed by liberal or conservative beliefs? Is there any way that the media can know all the facts of every world issue and present it to you unbiased?

The media is doing a very poor job on reporting on the GWOT. They are not going out and finding the news - they are sitting in a hotel room and buying video for independent cameramen. They also let their political opinions and desire for the dramatic affect the information they present.

For example - 80% of Iraq is generally peaceful and progressing. However since the media present only the video that will produce ratings without giving you the context - people think that all of Iraq is in flames.

During the battle of Samarra CNN breathlessly reported that 'hundreds of civilians had been killed.' As a result I got sent into that city (during the battle) to find these dead civilians and determine why our plan to avoid civilian casualties had failed. It turned out that CNN was reporting a fabrication - and despite being shown the evidence that their story was untrue, they never retracted it. As a result people still believe that 'hundreds of civilians' were killed in that battle instead of eight.

They are poorly covered, the channels may spin it in a different way, bt ultimately, most news stories are reduced to 5 or 10 minute blurbs that don't tell you anything but a body count and are usually followed by some sort of message that is supposed to encompass the entire situation.

News outlets are swayed by liberal or conservative beliefs. Media networks of all types know who thier audience is, and they pander to them by bringing into focus the stories which their target audience is going to be interested in.

The media can produce fairly comprehensive and fact-heavy programs, but they fare poorly, and would be really long to accurately descibe things. The problem is that these kind of programs are expensive to produce and garner low ratings.
