If it's my flag, I could burn it or do whatever I want.
The flag is an OBJECT, a thing, property.

I can't take your flag and burn it, that would be theft and destruction of your PROPERTY.

Why not ask whether it is appropriate to wrap political garbage in the flag? A lot of people do...

Another thing is flying it on a car antenna. To promote some worthless political cause.

Problem with that is it's not designed for sustained winds at highway speeds. I have been picking up American flags out of gutters, ditches, dumpsters, middle of the street, one time it was half buried in a rat's nest, the rat was chewing it up to line his hole.

Not just the little ones either. Some of them the 5' X 3' parade flags.

Then there are "buy our stuff or be a terrorist traitor" stuff like the flag printed on matchbooks, paper plates, napkins and other stuff made to be thrown away.

If you are going to be that "patriotic" why not just print it on kleenex or toilet paper?

The people who burn the flag in protest, actually treat it a lot better and with more dignity than those who fly it "just to fit in".

American flag is burned out of respect. It is not thrown away. If it is worn then burning the flag is the appropriate way to dispose of the flag. If you need to dispose of an American flag properly, you can bring it to your nearest Veteran's Association.

I do not mind if someone wants to burn the American flag as long as he wraps himself in it first.
