My daughter is 7 months, shes getting her first tooth in. Shes had really watery stools for about 4 days. No fever or any other symptom. Other than an over whelming amount of doo doo shes fine. Should i be concerned? I know if i take her to a dr. they will ask if she has a fever, and tell us its normal and send us home for about $200. I dont feel anythings wrong.
Is there anything i can do for her to help her? Should i be worried? Is this teething?

What is your definition of diarrhea? One or two loose or watery stool a day is not true diarrhea. If it's several times a day then the risk is dehydration. If the stools are a mustardy yellow color and REALLY stinky (think: makes you want to throw up) then it's ~probably~ a virus. Lack of any other symptoms (fever, congestion, lethargy) ~probably~ means that it is from teething.

It's still up for debate if dirrhea is caused by teething or not. They tend to produce more saliva and that can cause a looser stool, however by the time they start teething the immunity that they receive from being in the womb is starting to wear off and they're usually sticking anything and everything in their mouths.

If she's having a lot of watery stools, make sure she's getting plenty of fluid. The warning signs of dehydration are: less then 4 wet diapers a day, no tears, dry mouth, skin, tongue, sunken eyes, sunken soft spot, greyish skin. Between 6-24 months the 'maintenence level' of fluids for a baby is 3-4 oz per hour. (this is what she needs to keep from becoming dehydrated average over 24 hours) Don't give sugary drinks, sports drinks, broth or just plain water to maintain fluid. If she's drinking her formula/breastmilk that's fine, if not, use a 'Pedialyte' (or store brand) solution. If she's taking foods, try the "BRAT diet" (bananas, rice, applesauce, and dry toast) of course it's not a good time to add new foods.

More than 6 watery stools in 24 hours, signs of dehydration, blood in the stool, vomiting, refusing to eat at all, or a high fever (104+) is cause to call the pediatrician.

That is an awful long time to have really bad diarrhea. Why don't you talk to a pharmacist, there may be some safe OTC options to get it to stop (fiber or something?). And pharmacists are free, and very knowledgeable.

But yes some docs will do nothing until diarrhea has been going on for 7 days.

I would recommend some probiotics as well, which should be at some pharmacies and all health food stores. They should be refridgerated so ask where they are, some places keep them behind the counter just because they have a fridge back there.

I wouldn't be too worried. In the mean time, feed her Pedialyte to help with dehydration and the diarrhea. Are you giving her juice or too many fruits? This can cause diarrhea as well. Try examining her diet and try to single out what may be causing it. With no fever, it doesn't sound like she's caught a bug or anything.

Both my kids had diarrhea while teething. Make sure you keep fluids in her so she doesn't dehydrate.
If it goes on more then a week total I'd at least call the doctor.
