What's wrong with just being honest? It's always the best policy.

Why not just say want equality in certain circumstances only?

Why not just say plainly, we want equal treatment in some circumstances but better treatment in other circumstances?

Why not admit you want men to treat you better than a man - to stand while you sit, open your doors, stand the cold so you can be warm, pay for your dates (at least the first few), and defer to you in many "chivalrous" ways.

The problems arise when (some women) say they want to be treated "equally", but refuse to admit that they equal treatment only when it is advantageous.

There is nothing wrong with wanting it all.

Why not just admit it?

Maybe they just don't know ...let me explain

Maybe some women have not had that "better" treatment but have been brainwashed/taught to believe :

"Let a man treat you like a woman" = "You are weak and inferior"
"Let a man open your door" = "He thinks he is superior to you."
"Honor your husband" = "You are his slave and have no rights"
"Do 'womanly' things" = "You will never be respected"

How can she admit that she desires this treatment, when it is an admission of all of those things?

I am very strong, work a good job in construction, can change my own oil (but don't), can air up my tires (but usually don't), can open my car door (but usually don't) and can take out the trash (but usually don't)....likewise, my husband can cook his own dinner (but usually doesn't), can fold and put away the laundry (but usually doesn't), can clean the toilet (but usually doesn't)

He is the boss of the household, and I always get anything I want....how can that be? Because I make it my first priority to make him happy, and it makes him happy to be the MAN....and he makes it his priority to make me happy, and it makes me happy to be the WOMAN. I give & he gives.

I call that equality.

That would be far too consistent and logical.

They want to want to be able to complete as an equal with a man for a job, but expect that same man to stand up so she can sit on the train ride home.

She'll say that is simply good manners - good manners only apply only to men.

It is considered expected good manners for him to treat her with deference, but NOT bad manners for her not to treat him with equal deference. Go figure.

The nature of humans, both men and women will not change.

Most women will always crave special treatment that men will never get - or necessarily want anyway.

Just the way it is. But, when you find that special one, you want to do it anyway. And you both can end up happy despite the lack of illogic.

I never wanted 'special treatment'. All I ask is for common courtesy. I want someone to open a door if my hands are full, I'd do it for anyone else. Just decency should be enough for everyone. We should all be helpful to each other and treat people the way we want to be treated.

ok i'm a girl and i hate all the self centered ****** that whine when a guy doesn't treat them like the center of the universe and then say that he pays more attention to his friends and that that's sexist. some people actually do that. and just so you know it's not a problem with all women, it annoys me when people wait for me to sit first, open doors for me to pass and stuff because that's what i automatically do in company.

in conclusion: no matter what group of people you're talking about, some will always be jerks and it's unjust to judge the rest of said group by their actions

I believe this is one of the real quality difference between the genders. Most women (even the ones that ARE fair) have trouble admitting to the fact that so many women today want their cake and to eat it too.

Because women don't know what they want. They say one thing, think another and do another completely different third thing.

i do want to be treated equally. chivalry pisses me off.

there are plenty of women who are happy being treated as if they are weaker. learn to tell the difference.
