Apparently "thejaundiced_eye" is not the brightest crayon in the box and has no idea where a cartilage piercing goes.

Anyways... with 2 attempts my piercings never stopped hurting so I just took them out.
Just make sure you keep it clean by using alcohol, and twist the jewelry often too. Be careful when using the phone and try not to sleep on that side.

In a former life I did body piercings for a living. There were several piercings I would not do and one of them was cartilage, either septum or ear cartilage. They take a very long time to heal and can cause persistent pain even after they heal. If the jewelry is putting pressure on the cartilage then it will continue to hurt. If the piercing was done with a "gun" and not a hollow needle then you should take it out and have it redone in a piercing studio by a professional with a hollow needle. If it was done properly you will have a long and uncomfortable healing process to go through. In other words the only thing that will make it stop hurting, if it was done properly and is not putting pressure on cartilage nerves, is Time. Cartilage ear piercings can cause permanent damage to a nerve plexus that can affect the whole body. I have actually witnessed instances were a person had persistent headaches and other pains throughout the body for years after getting a cartilage piercing. The only way that these people find relief is to remove the piercing. Good luck.

You are going to have to "tough" this one out for the most part. I think the use of drugs to numb the pain is probably the worst thing you could do. Not only does it take away from the symbolism of the piercing, you really need to have all of your faculties about you, especially if you think there is a risk of infection. At the most, maybe an Advil or aspirin to reduce some swelling, some of the pain and improve blood flow throughout your body. If you have ANY issues, call your piercer followed by a call to a Doctor. Follow your piercer's care instructions exactly and you should be alright. Hope this helps and hope it clears up soon for you.

Make a little pack of ice to put on it, and take Ibuprofen. I know, that hurts so bad. I gave up after 2 tries and stuck to the lobes.

Well, mine never healed, and I tried about 10 different times. They always hurt. But some people would give me this advice......Dont do anything with that ear i.e. talk on the phone, sleep on it, touch it. Just leave it alone. Good luck to you.

there r many drugs out there that you may be able to get a hold of if you talk to the right people. of course there is over the counter drugs like tylenol and advil and aleve but they wont do much ussually. Try vicadin, oxy cotton, or morphine. I still caution you when taking these drugs. Bc one it could be illegal depending on where you are and two they can be addictive and are dangerous if you exceed the premedatated amount. Any type of pain killer will work basically.

Ice is nice...

it will numb it. If that doesn't work an over the counter pain
reliever like ibroprofen will work - check with the piercing
place as to what they recommend as well.
