You're finding three consecutive numbers, so

(x) + (x+1) + (x+2) = 57

Combine like terms, so

3x + 3 = 57

Subtract 3 from both sides, so

3x = 54

Divide both sides by three, so

x = 18

Plug 18 back into the beginning problem, so

(18) + (18+1) + (18+2) = 57

18 + 19 + 20 = 57

So your three consecutive numbers are 18, 19, and 20.

57 divided by 3 is 19. The two odd numbers either side of that, as the difference from 19, as 21 - 2 = 19 and 17 + 2 = 19.
