Unless you get a 'security suite' that does everything you need both an anti-virus and an anti-spyware program
I can recommend Kaspersky as your anti-vrus and CounterSpy as your anti-spyware tool.
They work well toghether and won't slow your system down while detecting and removing viruses and spyware automatically.

I don't think there are any complete systems that work well. I've heard the comparison to a swiss army knife - It's nice to have all those tools in one place, but if you need real work done you would use the separate tool that's best for the job.
When a suite tries to do everything well, it ends up doing nothing well.
Better to get the best in class for each aspect of protection you need.

If you are talking about security protection I would suggest maybe MacAffee, Symantec or SurfControl.
However there are many specialists in various areas but I would be very careful of 'free' downloads etc as they often contain software that automatically 'plants' viruses etc on your machine so you'll always need to buy upgrades etc. V tricky area so be careful - sometimes your computer is safer without anything!

Sorry but there is no such thing. You need to have a selection of packages to protect your PC. Once you have made the major decisions regarding Firewall and Antivirus you can move on to the likes of Spybot, Ad-aware, Ccleaner etc. Most important is to ensure all your packages are up to date; that especially applies to your Microsoft products.

you extremely go with to %. one antivirus and easily set up one after the different. Having more desirable than one after the different put in creates conflicts and makes your equipment more desirable weak. Sounds to me like you install AVG AND MS protection needs. Now all and sundry is suggesting others. continually uninstall your contemporary antivirus thoroughly in the previous setting up a clean one. i exploit AVG for antivirus and Zone alarm firewall. domicile windows defender is only prevents malware from setting up without your permission and blocks pop up classified ads. it is no longer an antivirus or firewall. For spyware/secret agent ware protection (i do not extremely go with it, 'reason i'm no longer stupid) i propose Malwarebytes antimalware. Norton is crap! particular it extremely works, even though it is bloated. Paid antivirus is a waste of money, and is no longer any better.

I use Windows Firewall, Avg Free (anti virus) and Spyware detector, all free. I used to pay for one of the most well known products on the market and found hundreds of undesirable files when I switched. So far no probs.......
