I was traveling from out of town when my car begin to make a funny noise. I pulled over and put a quart of oil in and then proceed to the next exit. I stopped at the gas station and put another 1 1/2 of oil in the car and the noise was now softer. I proceed back on the high way and I notice about a mile out the car did not want to accelarate and next thing I knew it died. When I attempted to restart the car it kept making a clicking noise. I was told by a friend that it could be the engine. I had the car towed to my home, however I am not sure if that is what's wrong with it. How can I be certain it is the engine and if so are there any web sites where I can buy a engine for reasonable.

probably a brocken ring ,or your timing belt. anyway,it is your engine, but before thinking at an engine change(YOU CAN BUY IN A JUNCK YARD) and because it is eazy to diagnose, take the car to a repair shop, it will costyou less than a change and you will stay with your engine.

Sounds like it may be the engine is toast. It also sounds like you don't know a whole lot about cars. The best advice I could give you is to find a good mechanic and have them look at it. If the engine is gone you probably will be better off dollar wise by replacing the whole car and take great pains to be sure to change the oil regularly and be certain to keep the oil at the proper level. Usually the engine recieves the same care as the rest of the car and that is why I would advide replacing the whole car.

if your car is using that much oil, chances are the oil rings on your pistons have failed?
if this is the case, your engine is now seized and will need replacing?
hope this helps?
