It has a lot of acid in it that could cause some nasty heartburn but I have not heard to not eat it. I do all the time in my fruit salads.

Question: I have heard that during pregnancy some food items like tindora, pineapple (raw & ripe), papaya (raw &ripe) should be avoided. Is there any scientific basis for it? My son weighed 4.5Kg at birth. Now I am pregnant again. Is there a chance for me getting high blood sugar because my first baby weighed a lot?

Ans: There is no scientific evidence to support this belief that pregnant women should avoid papaya and pineapple. But since these fruits are rich in enzymes many believes this may cause miscarriage. Maternal diabetes can result in large baby and not the large baby causing maternal diabetes. If you had high blood sugar during the previous delivery you are at increased risk of developing gestational diabetes.

Pineapples are fine for pregnant women without diabetes or an allergy. You'll be fine. Have some pineapples and peanut butter for me. ;)

It's an old wives tale that fresh pineapples induce labor. It's not true. I ate plenty of it when I was pregnant.

don't know what a "pineapleis" is, but pineapple is fine to eat any time by anyone, unless you are diabetic.

pineapple has bromelaine in it. In large doses it supposedly can cause uterine contractions.
