You can have a heart attack any age anytime whether pregnant or not. I guess a couple of things will stop you hearing of it - firstly people dont come out and say my mum died of a heart attack pregnant, it would scare other pregnant people, also death during childbirth could easily be due to a heart attack but there is so much going on they may not point it out as that. I guess the other thing may be that pregnant people are checked out quite thoroughly and kept an eye on so they would see any warning signs of heart problems. OOooh what a morbid subject. Hope it does not make you worry too much.

HIgh Blood Pressure, and a weak or chronic heart condition will be made worse during pregnancy. If you were diagnosed with any before pregnancy then you are at a higher risk of heart attacks and not lessened at all. You have more blood, more weight, and even if you dont have eclampsia your pressure generally goes up. I had a High Blood pressure problem that i was treating with diet before i got pregnant. Of course it sky rocketed when i got pregnant and now I have be really careful. I am at risk of stroking out during labor so I am scheduled for a C-section now since it wont go down.

A heart attack can happen anytime and pregnancy can put extra stress on the body and bring one on. But when pregnant a woman is going to her doctor and getting regular check ups so he would be looking for signs of stress on both the mother and the baby.

Are you woried about having a heart attack? No, being pregnant does not protect you from a heart attack, in fact, considering the heart has to work harder during pregnancy it would stand to reason that if you are already at risk then your chances may raise.

Sure. You could also die of total renal failure. Or a traveling blood clot that causes a massive stroke. Kidney failure from taking antibiotics accidentally instead of vitamins. Necrotizing fasciitis from scraping your leg against something down in the laundry room. Of course, you could also be involved in a multi-car pileup outside of the mall and be incinerated from the Pinto you rear ended. Each day provides a veritable cornucopia of ways to die. Having a baby inside of you doesn't increase or decrease those odds. Unless you are diabetic. Or are prone to pregnancy induced aphasia and blackouts. Or ...

Yes you can and it does happen...a lot. Usually to morbidly obese women (I'm talking hundreds of pounds over weight here). Knew a kid who had a giant girlfriend. she go pregnant and a heart attack at 7 months. Gave birth at 8 months and died when the kid was 3 months old.

Sadly, pregnancy doesn't give you a magical immunity to heart attacks or any other sicknesses.
Only your diet and lifestyle can prevent heart attacks.

Yes, you can. It can happen to anyone at anytime. Even the healthiest people have been known to suffer from heart attacks, for unknown reasons.
