Dude, if you want to misread Scripture, you have that right. But I will tell you that you are woefully misreading Scripture.
You skipped a "therefore." Back up one to Genesis 2:23, "And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man." The word "woman" (ishah) indicates a connection to "man" (ish). THEN Genesis 2:24, "Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh."
The "therefore" in v. 24 refers to the statement in v. 23, the name and the connection it states. That this connection is commemorated in language shows that this connection is permanent. As long as there are humans, the genders will be connected, and this is how.
"For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God" (1 Corinthians 11:12). Basically, what was then, is now. We are no different from the humans then; that connection is still there.
Again, if you wish to misinterpret Scripture as an excuse to do what you have already decided to do, I can only say that you should go ahead and do what you want to, but leave God out of it.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I was made from an egg and a sperm gettin' busy, as far as I can tell.
Don't take these things too literally. Religion is a way to keep people in line--it can be a jumping-off point for spirituality, but it's no substitute. That would be like reading one book and deciding that's plenty for the rest of your life. That's not how it's supposed to work.

This passage was given to tell man (generic) that when two unite, a man and a woman, as only they can, that they really become one person, two entities. This is what God wants.
Unfortunately, about 50% of the marriages today end up in divorce. The two entities did not become one!

This is true and it means that a man should leave his youth and parents and give all to his wife. He can visit the parents, but once he gets married, he is to remain Loyal to his wife. Old versions mean, it refers to a man in regards to a women who was pulled from a mans rib cage. This is in the old Testement.
