Im assuming you're not using the same computer as you used to put the music on in the first place? Otherwise this shouldnt be an issue?

If you're using a different PC then you have a slight problem. There is a way around this and you can email me if you need to know about that. Alternatively you can add details to this question and I'll update my answer. Otherwise, read on!

If you ARE using the same computer that you use to put your music on then there's no problem. Add the audio book, plug in your iPod and update. The music and the audiobook will be on there.

If you're using the same PC that you use to use to put your music on and it's a question of capacity, then unfortunately there's no way around that. If you're over capacity then you need to take music off first.

There is a way to do this without 'losing' your music - on iTunes there is a tick box next to every song. Untick/uncheck every song you want to be taken off your iPod temporarily, then connect your iPod and update. This will clear space for the audiobook. Once you want to put the songs back on, simply re-check/re-tick the songs and they'll be put back on once you update.
