My issue is that I have a degree from an accredited university. I am extremely accomplished in this field, and it is also the field in which I teach (art). However, it is not a high need teaching area, and I am required to jump through several very expensive hoops to complete my certification (I am only provisionally certified currently). These hoops essentially require me to get another bachelor's degree in a field in which I already hold a bachelor's degree. Since I am already working on my master's degree in this field, I am not excited about forking over money for something I already have. My state does not offer an alternative route for the subject I teach (art).

I was wondering what states have the simplest certification routes. I have passed Praxis I and Praxis subject tests for art. I have completed a degree program in my subject area, but I HAVE NOT completed a bachelor's program for teaching.

I need quick certifications so I can get a better job.

South Carolina desperately needs teachers in any field. A big problem they have is that, to fill the classrooms, they are hiring people with no teaching certificate. The education system in SC is in pretty sad shape, and some other southern states might be as well.

Try Indiana....This state has a "Transition to Teaching" program offered at many univerisities. Indiana Wesleyan University's website might be of some usefulness. Good Luck, totally understand not wanting to pay more...yet need more.

Look here to see what you would need to do. http://www.wiu.edu/cpep/index.html You can get a degree in Art Education.

You could also look at universities near you that offer degrees in Art Education.
