Um... I would say no, because of all the negative effects it has.

What would the reasons for legalization be? Medical marijuana?
If so, reasons against would be it has v. bad side effects; some people argue that it has good effects on your eyes, but you'd have to basically smoke 24/7 to get effects enough to change anything, and then you'd be too stoned to care...

Cannabis should be kept as an illegal substance or provided as required under serious controls of government officials. Cannabis in itself is relatively harmless, and some claim it leads to harder drugs. The reality is that the use of cannabis in itself doesn't lead to harder addictive drugs because of its own properties, but because of the relaxing effects and the presence of other drugs during use of cannabis and the relaxed state of the user. An incredible amount of THC is required to cause an overdose, and in normal doses can help those with certain illnesses which reduce hunger i.e. cancer etc; the reason it should be seriously controlled is that while occasional users may not cause problems and lead normal lives, those who use it in excess may contract cancer from the different chemicals required to grow it effectively and increase crop size. The burning of any product, cigarettes included, are all harmful to humans. While it may appear less dangerous than alcohol and cigarettes to bureaucrats, the reality is that it is illegal and can be linked with other drugs to racketeering, crime and terrorism. The benefit gained by a few occasional users increase the amount of loss that is already found with users of cigarettes and alcohol. Smoking of cannabis does slowly destroy brain cells like alcohol. Loss of memory, repetitive speech patterns and the inability to learn new skills are all characteristics of drug use. Imagine your next child born the product of some pot smoking moron who wanted an illegal substance made available. We already see the effects of women who smoke cigarettes while pregnant and the reduced body weight of the born infant. There are so many other ways to get high on life without having to resort to an illegal substance or consuming a product that alters your perception on reality. If you want a different life, don't use drugs, make your life what you want it to be and get excited about your potential.

Yes. I don't use the stuff, and never have, but I can see the benefits of legalizing it.

Biggest issue: All kinds of money spent on illegal product now become legalized and is subject to tax. You can collect income tax and sales tax, and add on a cannabis tax. Money that can go back to help solve some of the problems it causes.

Legalization means you can have better control of sales. Like making sure nothing else is in it, and that strength of the drug is known.

The US is too big on zero tolerance. How is that going for you? Is crime lower than other countries with more laxed laws? The prisons are full. It would be better to not be chasing after someone for a little bit of pot. But it would still be illegal to drive impaired, smuggle the stuff, traffic, sell, or carry excessive amounts of it. You can concentrate on the bigger criminals.

No , No, No, No, ----- Because of the Irrefutable Evidence of the Damage it does to The Brain and Creates Personality Changes ---- But Apparently there are Some Benefits when Prescribed for "Some" Medical Problems -- Obviously by a Qualified Practicioner --- not a Drug Dealer in Disguise ......

Well i think yes, Cannabis is a great, natural remedy for many illnesses, it is not likely to become legalised though as the government would not make much, if any, profit from it.

Green party ran up here and these were the pro's
-more tourism for the first city to legalize
-more jobs created
-lead to less arrests for drugs
-not as bad for your lungs as cigarettes

Con's from the Liberals were:
-lots of stoners will appear
-lots of people will drive under the influance, which will lead to more accidents and deaths on the road
-children will get access
-no city wants to be known for the first place to have weed
-will encourage hippies to come to the city and waste tax dollars
-create an acceptable way to "escape" from life, just like smoking and alcohol

In my opinion, the liberals are too scared, although I am sure those problems can occur. I suggest looking at studies from places where weed has been legalized and looking at the social and economic impacts.

No, talking about driving under influences. How many death in US each year due to drunk and drive.

Now, if you legalize the cannabis to general public, how many more deaths will be added.

Also, how will the medical coverage for those who extensively use the drug and cause heath problems. We society has to pay for the tap.

Don't think so as it would lead to all sorts of things people want to get legalised and where would it stop.
