You obviously aren't much of a sports person. The purpose of sports is to compete. For inter school competition, the best competitors are put on the field or court. Most patrons of sport prefer to not see women compete with or against men. It seems to lesson the competition. Some Sports can become very physical.

Leave the coed thing to intramurals and backyard softball games.

Only if the school does not offer a team for both genders, i.e. powder puff football for girls, regular football for boys. I believe every student should have an equal opportunity to play the sports they choose no matter what their gender. Offering girls and boys teams makes it safier, but until then coed is the only way to go.

no cuz think about if boys played "contact sports" with girls. "contact". and college teams or pro arent like that so it would be bad preparation.
