Yes, the Changi Airport is just great. There's lots to do - shop, eat, play areas for kids, various gardens with fish ponds and orchids, massage services, shower facilities, swimming pool, etc - all for transit passengers. There are many comfortable armchairs and sofas around too. But the transit hotel is a very good idea since you have 2 very young kids with you and you are presumably on a long flight. If you and your family are up to it, there is also a free city tour for transit passengers.
Enjoy!

The airport hotel is located inside the transit area and you do not have to go thru Immigration to get to it. It's nice and comfortable and suitable for short stays of a few hours. However it can get heavily booked so I suggest making reservations in advance.
The airport also provides a free tour for passengers with more than 6 hours layovers. It's free and takes you to a number of tourist spots in Singapore. Duration is about 2 hours.

The name of the hotel in Singapore Changi Airport is called Ambassador Transit Hotel.
I highly suggest that you can bring your 2 kids to stay in the airport hotel as the place is really comfy and there are several things you can in the airport. There are in-house arcade, cinemas, restaurants, cafeterias, swimming pool & etc. You and your kids will not feel bored staying in the airport hotel.

7 hours is probably just enough for the day rooms available at all different Terminals of Singapore Airport. Search the net and you can probably reserve one in advance. From what i rememeber the prices are reasonable. Singapore Airport has been ranked one of the top few in the world, so enjoy it with your kids.

I haven't stayed there before but from the picture in the web below looks pretty ok, but its advisable to book 3 or 4 weeks in advance, and its not cheap so I reckon you will be better off hanging out in the airport, hope this helps cheers
