We have nosy, annoying neighbors, and I'm sick of them staring at my children and my yard. They have gone as far as telling my kids not to pick flowers in our own yard. I don't want to go with standard wood fencing, and bamboo looks pretty neat.

Depending on where you live, you may want to try a living bamboo fence. Golden Bamboo (Phyllostachys aurea) is one of the hardiest bamboos and will survive temperatures to -10 degrees F. It is a rapid grower and reaches 10' to 15' high, and 1 1/2" diameter. A thick stand of these can provide an effective screen to keep out the prying eyes of an annoying neighbor.

It can be quite invasive in some areas, so make sure that you contain it. It spreads through underground rhyzomes.

Depends on the weather where you live, but it will last at least as long, if not longer, than a standard wood fence.

So long as you install it correctly, you will have a beautiful fence for several years to come. You shouldn't have to worry about a thing with it for at least a decade (usually longer), although it does change slightly depending on where you live (average humidity, rain/snowfall, etc.)

Longer than a regular wood fence because of its special texture and coating, however, it will be more expensive.

It will last longer than a regular wood fence, and will be quite lovely. Go for it.
