She should eat whatever she can tolerate-meaning it doesn't make her want to vomit. Avoiding excessive amounts of caffeine is a good thing. No alcohol or smoking. Only taking medications approved by her doctor is another good piece of advice. As far as foods in general she should eat small frequent meals of her choice. If excessive weight gain is a concern then you'd better let her come to her own terms about that because if you try to mention it you may get hurt!

Eat as many fresh veggies and any fruit as she can. Juices are way better than caffeine drinks cuz if you drink too many caffeine drinks in a short time, the caffeine stays in the baby's system longer. For iron, eat raisins but eat an orange soon after so the iron can get into her and the baby's system faster. The citrus reacts to the raisins and the iron is distributed in larger quantities and faster. Fish helps the developing brain cells of the baby, and but stay away from the fish that has alot of mercury. Dairy products like milk and cheese will give the baby calcium without taking it from your girlfriend's bones and teeth. About a cup of cheese equals a cup of milk and two cups of cottage cheese equals a cup of milk. If she does not like milk straight, buy Bisquick in chocolate or strawberry. It helps.

She can eat whatever she wants. She will want to avoid too much in the way of "bottom feeders" seafood. But I'm sure she'll hear she can't have anything from pineapple to peanut butter. I ate anything that sounded good while pregnant and my kids are 100% food allergy free and were all born full term and HEALTHY!
The ONLY thing my ob/gyn told me not to eat was "too much cookies and candies and cakes". Obviously, she shouldn't eat sugary junk but sweets on occasion are fine. Too much can cause yeast infections and she doesn't want that.

Should eat: Things high in calcium (Yogurt, cheese, cereals, cottage cheese, pudding, milk) Fruits, veggies, peanut butter, Cream-o-wheat is a really good cereal for her to eat. Things with Omega-3's.
NOT to eat: Fish, sushi, honey. Anything seafood or anything unpasturized. Nothing raw.
She needs to actually get on a prescription prenatal vitamin. They prescribe them now b/c they do have Omega 3's which are CRUTIAL for brain & eye development in the early stages of pregnancy.
Hope this helped!!

Well she can eat whatever she wants. Besides some see foods. Just tell her to cut down on the sweets and salts. A LOT of water and juices and fruits, grains, meats, veggies. Calcium. In addition to her vitamins.

The big things that aren't allowed are sushi and soft cheese
Even sushi that is cooked (ex: California rolls) should be avoided because they are likely made around the raw seafood.

Rule #1: Never tell a pregnant woman that she can't eat something, she will likely be very pissed off.

She should avoid cold deli meats, certain kinds of fish, and hotdogs... The doc will give her a packet with everything she needs to know.
