pros?-
along the lines of "how cool is that", no gatecrachers, no police storming the party (well, unlikely anyway) and you can stop people leaving if it gets too boring.
cons?
EXPENSIVE- Especially if people get bored and start to do stoopid things like get overly pissed, jump over bored and you have to trash your dress to save 'em.
EXPENSIVE! Thought of how much the dj costs? thought of the drivers fees? thought of the clearing up fees?- unless you are doing it all your self.
Add in forgetting to invite people, people being late and so you cant leave the port until they arrive( and thus pissing everyone else off as they have to wait around for ages)
and you are left with tossing a coin.
good luck!!

Is the boat mooving? Sea sickness would be a drag. In So Cal we have the Queen Mary, it's permanantly moored and doesn't move, so it's safe. Makes a great place for a prom.
I would say that if you hold it, they will come. The prom should be special and fabulous. Hopefully the venue is within a hour of most peoples homes, having to drive home a midnight after a prom is dangerous and irresponsible.

Insurance and liability. My company had their x-mas party on a boat one year, and three people were so plastered they fell off the pier. But Im sure no kids at the prom would ever think about boozing (:::implied sarcasm:::).

well i think it is pretty cool to have prom on a boat but it isnt really reasonable what more fun are you going to have on a boat that what you would at a hotel but there is more freedom and then teachers might get sea sick so less shaparons then that isn't really safe teens are imature you never know what type of ideah they might comeup with and plus no girls want to meet down at a dock for prom everyone wantes to make their grand intrance

Seasickness could be an issue, or people not being stable to dance, always rocking back and forth.

Pro - well, I guess it's better than holding it in your high school gym.
Con - if you want to sneak off and get drunk/wasted/laid, there's no place to sneak off to.
