Hey-
I need to know some stuff about texas, including some street names (any) some buildings or landmarks in Houston, Dallas, around there, and stuff about Texas Rangers ("Police"- not the team) how old do you have to be, to be a ranger, and just stuff of how you qualify, and anything else about Texas (houston, Dallas, ect) you think I should know.
I am going to write a story, (no publishing) I like to research stuff be4 I write.

This is an awfully tall order. You might want to specify what you are writing about so that others can give you better information. Throwing out street names at random won't give anyone the impression of actually living there.

The Texas Rangers have a long and proud history. You are better off researching one of several web sites:

A question, and don't take this wrongly: If you know what you are looking for, why not do the research yourself? There are any number of search engines out there. For example, if I wanted to write a story about life on a Mississippi riverboat before the Civil War I wouldn't ask anyone; I'd look it up myself. (I am a writer by trade and do a lot of research.)

"I am going to write a story, (no publishing) I like to research stuff be4 I write."

No, you like other people do to your reseach for you, before you write. While I am proud of you for wanting to get your facts straight, and I wish other writers were as interested in proper research as you are; simply asking other people to do your research for you is not the same thing as doing your own research. (Sometimes research can be a lot of fun.)

In any case, when I moved to Texas I figured I would need to get up to speed on the State ASAP. I went out and got a copy of TEXAS by James Michener and read it. It was better than a Texas History course. It drags a bit during the Commanchie wars, but otherwise it is very good and it is everything you need to know about Texas in one volume, including a bit on the Rangers if I remember right.

Here is the link on Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Texas-James-A-Michener/dp/0449210928

Or you could hit your local library. I'm sure they would have a copy, or be able to interlibrary loan you one.

It will also teach you quite a bit about how to write and strucutre a really good novel. Michener was one heck of a good writer, and like you he valued good research. One of the things he did was found The Michener Center for Writers at the University of Texas at Austin. Check out his wiki page.

Good luck, and good luck with your writing.

Here is the website for the Rangers.

As far as the rest of your question. Can you be a bit more specific. Both Houston and Dallas are very big cities and there is just too much information on each of them to list here. Why not try googling them to narrow down your question.

You'd be better off looking it up on the biggest information source you could ever ask for. The internet via search engines. I live in Houston. Crime is high, Traffic sux, jobs are plentiful if you are bi lingual and the air stinks. lol
