The ML 350 and ML 500 are nearly the same vehicle with different engines and features. The ML 350 uses a 3.7l V-6 engine. The ML 500 uses a 5.0l V-8 engine. The ML 500 comes with a few more standard features, but you can upgrade an ML 350 to have the same features. So, the main difference is how the cars drive. The ML 500 has a larger engine, so it will be more powerful and faster. The ML 500 has a heavier engine, so you will feel a little less control of the car (a tiny difference, but if pushed to the limit, you will feel a difference). The ML 500 will also need a little more maintenance (2 more cylinders, more stress from the extra weight, more stress on the drivetrain from the extra power).

If you need the power of a V-8 engine, I would opt for the ML 500. If you do not need the extra power, the ML 350 is a very nice car.

Good luck!

The ML350 has a 3.7 liter engine. ML500 in 5.0 liter. The 500 is going to be harder on brakes. An aggressive driver can expect to need brakes every 15,000 miles. Trim and options could be the same. If its used it just depends. All other issues are about the same. The ML in general can also be hard on tires. Keeping the front end aligned can be important on these models. Tires aren't cheap.
