I want to know if it is safe and if there are a lot of side effects.

I have one right now. I've had it for 5 months. Personally, I hate it, but I've kept it in because I'm not very good at remembering to take the pill. My side effects are when I get my period is seems like it's never going to end. It'll start go for a few days like a normal period, stop, start again a day or two later, etc. for about 2 weeks. My PMS symptoms seem a lot worse and I cramp a lot more. My fiance also says that the strings poke him quite often and I guess it hurts. I think every woman's experience with it is completely different. You should talk to you gyno about what birth control is best for you.

properly, i have had the Mirena because the end of July and that i fairly like it. I did have mild recognizing and cramping for 2 months, yet now, I even do not have any adverse outcomes in any respect. I frequently have heavy, heavy, heavy sessions that very last months at a time, with the point to have only popular mild sessions is tremendous! I have intense blood stress, so the pills, the Patch, Nuva Ring, and Inplanon are out of the question for me. BTW, the Mirena is made from silicone, in contrast to the unique "copper T IUD", so the airport alarms received't bypass off! LOL!

I used the Mirena IUD for five years, and I loved it. I switched to it after using the depo provera injection for a year and a half. The depo made me lose my period, which was great, but there's a lot of fertility problems associated with that and I gained a lot of weight, too. When I switched to the IUD, I got my period back, but it went from six days down to three, and there are no problems with fertility afterwards. I also didn't gain weight with it because the hormones are directed towards the uterus only, unlike the depo which is spread throughout the whole body. My husband never felt the strings during sex, so he liked it too. I did get pregnant with it, which can be dangerous. It's bad to keep the IUD in during pregnancy, but there's a chance of miscarriage if it's removed. I had it removed and luckily things are on track with the pregnancy. Apparently, I waited too long to change it and the hormones decreased (it was due to expire next month, I was due to change it this month and found out I was pregnant last month). I would definatly use it again, but I've learned my lesson not to go so close to the due date before changing it.

I have it, and I love it. I've had it for a year now. I haven't had any problems with it at all. It's only for people who are in monogamous relationships, as it is in your uterus and can make it easier for germs to enter the uterus, causing infections which can lead to scarring and infertility.

At first, i didn't think I was going to like it. Cramping and spotting for about six weeks. After that, I didn't even think about it. I don't have periods anymore, but I do have some very light spotting around the time i should be having a period.

Its and IUD and yes i have it. It is very safe, it is more effective then birth control, 99.9%. The side effects are spotting on and off for about 3 months. After you have it put in you will have some cramping but nothing major. I had mine put in 5 months ago and i havent had a period in 3 months. Its wonderful! go to this website it explains everything.http://www.mirena-us.com/

I have had Mirena for over 6 months. Only issue I have with it is the spotting. I haven't had a real period since getting it. I used to have very heavy periods and they have stopped. I love it.........I'm very pleased that I got it.

I don't have one, but my best friend does. She loves it, she can't feel it, she's healthy, and best of all, she's not pregnant! She still has periods, though, unlike most of the previous answers. I'm thinking about getting it after my baby is born, since it's supposed to be the most effective birth control available.
