feminism is the one that got you laws against rape. Feminism is the one that gave you the right to vote. Feminism is the thing that allowed you to get maternal leave for jobs. feminism allowed you to be pregnant on a job because back in the day you could get fired fot getting pregnant on the job. feminism is the one that protected you from sexual harassment and guaranteed EQUAL pay. Feminism was that person who told you you could play with the boys. Feminism is the one who expressed the voices of women to be heard so WHY ARE SOME WOMEN AGAINST FEMINISM?

I am NOT talking about RADICAL FEMINISM. Leaning too far to the left or right is bad.

that is an excellent and progressive thinking question wolf del terra del fuego,
coming from a person who values all, ALL that feminism has achieved for both sexes, it's hard for me to answer this question but i have a feeling...
that some are just ancien (francaise) in their mind-set, these women must have somewhere learned of a right and wrong way for women to be. Sadly. I also think these are the same, limiting people who have stereotypical standards for men.

You last statement explains it. Some women (and men, for that matter) perceive feminism only by its most radical version. Some equate "feminism" with "man hating." To some, feminism is the exact opposite of what it's supposed to be. Some women feel that they are NOT allowed to have personal choice, simply because feminism thinks that they are making the wrong choice. "You're a victim if you stay home and have babies" for example. The extreme has harmed the cause by being extreme. Few women would argue that anti-rape laws are good. Few women would ague that the right to vote is good. But not all women believe that maternity leave is a positive thing. Not all women agree that a woman's job should be protected for pregnancy. So, even without the radical position, you need to understand that all women ARE going to agree.

I suppose there was a time when I would have been a feminist. All I really wanted was a level playing field. I have a wonderful career and I am very good at what I do. I wanted that to be recognized and to receive the rewards that I earned. I have achieved my goals by hard work. I do not want to be treated better than men, just as an equal, if I do an equal job. I want to get the positions because I am the best person for the job, not because I am the token woman.

That's where you would be wrong.
MANY women are against feminism because they disagree with the asinine claims that feminists make. One such claim is that feminism "got you laws against rape." Those laws existed LONG before feminism. Etc. The fact is, the first "feminist" statement was in the Bible you might have discounted: "There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus" (Galatians 3:28). I understand that you might not want to admit this, but that statement declared that before God, ALL humans are equal. We forget that all the pagan and "earth mother" religions relegated women to the status of temple prostitute at best, house slave most often, and the woman had no place in the afterlife (try to find the "women's paradise" in the Quran, for example.) Thus, the first meeting for women's suffragism in the U.S. and the first meeting to oppose slavery in the U.S. both happened in Christian churches . . . because Christians believed that blacks and women shouldn't be treated differently.
Thus, I suppose the short answer to your question would be that when feminists started scorning Christians, the Christians started supporting someone else.

Those are smart women cause women don't live in isolation in this world. There should be fair treatment for all. Women have sons, brothers, uncles, fathers etc. If on the false accusations of a woman a father loses his son/daughter, or is put in jail then everyone loses. That's why intelligent women think that feminism has gone too far and has been hijacked by lesbians men haters.

I think most women think of radical feminists when they hear the word "feminism". That is the main problem. So far as I can tell, the only women who are against feminism are those who would rather marry a rich man so that they never have to work. That is just lazy!

i am in support of some feminism but not all, today because of all of this feminism, guys don't open doors like they used to, women are getting called hoes, b itches and s luts every 5 minutes, and many women think they can sleep with as many men as they want to and still expect to be respected?!?! i mean look at that woman in the Air force who was a drill instructor, she recently posed for playboy magazine with her dog tags on, now how can anybody who she's in charge of take her seriously or respect her??? that's why she was discharged, what about all of these "actresses" in movies taking their clothes off and win awards for there "artistic" roles and are on magazine covers, are our daughters supposed to think of them as liberating female role models?, I think their are not as many gentlemen out their as there used to be because of forms of extreme feminism

Any "ism" is bad. It's leaning too far toward one side. I beleive in a balance. It's not feminism if you are just asking for equality.
