I just got my w2 back and i was wondering if i can get the taxes withheld thats on there...im currently a college student.

You can still file but your mom claims you since your in school.

Yes you can. here's what I did for a few years until I got out of school. You could claim yourself independently and you'd probably get more money for it, but if your parents claim you, then they get more money. For example, last year if I would have claimed myself, i would have recieved 1,100 dollars but my parents would have only received around 500 dollars. If my parents did claim me, they got like 2,300 dollars. By letting them claim me, I would only recieve around 250 dollars so what we did was agree that my parents would just pay me the difference from their tax return and they would still get more money and it wouldn't make a difference to me. I'm sure every case is different but i would suggest getting a professional accountant to do it.

when you file, claim "0" (zero); she claimed you already, but you still need to do your taxes. You may even get $ back, but it won't be as much.
