Some do, for example a friend of mine who went to a Mensa meeting. He said it was a little bit like a big smarter that thou contest, at least in part.

The rationale for viewing others who are less intelligent as inferior is really the same as that for viewing people with a different skin color, different culture, less money, etc. as inferior. It is because you feel insecure about yourself or your position in life. And there are just as many scared, insecure, intelligent people, as otherwise

I think most people can tell you that there is a big difference between intelligence, and the common sense which must to be learned from the "school of hard knocks". Whose advice are you more likely to trust, that of the young genius PhD down the street, or your own grandma's?

No matter how smart you are, it is just as easy to make mistakes and be a bad person in general. In fact it may be even easier to screw up badly if you have above average intelligence. Like King Solomon said, "who increaseth in wisdom, increaseth in sorrow."

Real intelligence lies in being able to see one's *own* faults, and in correcting them.

Intelligence doesn't mean everything. The person who is really intelligent will know this already and will be tolerant towards the thinking of others.

~I imagine it's like all other area's of life. Everyone is different, so for some it's yes and for others, not at all because - I believe - they view those that are not as knowledgeable as a simple teaching opportunity and many intellegent people simply love to share their vast knowledge. :)
