No she doesn't but there are other ways to set her apart at your wedding. I was the maid of honor at my best friends wedding and she let me pick out the dress style (she wanted us all in the same dress and color) but she had my bouquet done up differently than the other bridesmaids.

No, she does not have to wear the same dress or even the same color. The point should be for her to stand out from the other bridesmaids because she is more signifigant and is playing more of a role in the wedding. She is your maid of honor for a reason and remember that when deciding what she should wear...keep it in the same theme as the other dresses but different...and the color can be totally different but should still be one of your chosen colors for the wedding itself.

The maid of honor's dress can be a the same dress but a different color preferbly the other color of the wedding colors that you picked put. Or it can be altogether different; different style of dress but of course a different color. That way she can stand out and you can do the same thing for the best man's vest.

No.. I have seen everyone in a different dress. Alot of people like to put the maid of honor in a different dress to show that she is the maid of honor.

Not necessarily, but keep in mind that the Bride should always stand out. It's her day. So if you're going to wear a different dress> run it by the bride first. Don't try to stand out, just be subtly different from the other bridesmaids. It's not your day, it's the Bride to be's.

Not at all. It can be a different style, or even a different color that still goes along with the general color scheme.
It is nice if at least something unifies all the girls, though. Such as color of dress (but with different styles), style of dress (with different colors), similar flowers...something should bring everything together.
