-jobs
-little pollution
-a good transport network
-good, well-funded police force
-good, well-funded firefighting force
-good, fair and well-funded justice system
-entertainment
-places to relax
-reasonable taxes
-monuments that give pride to the city's inhabitants

I live in Michigan but i think it would be great to live in NY becaue there is always something going on. They also have a lot of night life and there is something for people of all ages.
They have great restaurants
They have culture
They have all kinds of shows
It is the city that never sleeps
Oh and for people who live there, they have excellent transportation system/lots of jobs
