for 6 days, should I let it air out now or keep putting the ointment on? It looks a lot better but not totally healed yet.

Only continue with a bandage if you need to protect the wound from further injury. If you have a nice scab and it's improving, I would say switch to olive oil for an ointment to allay itching and scaring. No need to continue the epsom salt if the wound is dry and not oozing. It will heal faster now without anything on it.

I've used epsom salts to pull pus and infection out of a wound. Only took 3-4 days. Even had it recommended by a physician to treat the beginnings of "blood poisoning."

Epsom salts weren't the best choice you could have made but no matter now. Stop using them and twice a day, wash the area with plain soap and water. Pat dry, apply Bacitracin and cover with gauze bandage or a bandaid, whichever will cover it completely. Do this for 5 days then look at it again and decide if you need to continue this for 5 more days.

I heard the other day that plain clorox is the best method to treat an infected fingernail. Could it be true of an infected finger as well? Give it a try and see! But remember all injures/wounds takes time to heal up-some longer than others. Be patient.

Yes take the Bandaid off of it now. It does to need to air out. It would not hurt to keep soaking it daily in warm salt water...Good Luck

The longer it's bandaged from air, the faster it will heal.
