Here was the original issue:

I am asking this under my wife's log on.....I lost a battle for visitation rights to my son due to having a REALLY bad attorney....I pay child support, paid my ex's mediation fees, paid half of the medical bills for my son, paid for the paternity test....I did everything I was supposed to do....her defense was my irresponsibility due to my age (i am 23, she is 33) and she said in court that i was a convicted felon (burglary charge when i was 13 years old) and my attorney did not say a WORD to defend me....sooooo....i got ONLY every other weekend visitation (no holiday, birthdays, father's day, nothing) and she got SOLE parental responsibility.....we were not married (in case anyone asks), it was a one night stand but I am trying to take repsponsibility and be in my son's life.....the question is.....should I file for a modification of final judgment???? i want my son!!!
Now....i found an attorney to take the case for $1500, should i go for it?

I would file for the modification. After all .. fathers' day is for kids to be with their fathers. You should also be allowed to be at his b'days or at least have him on that day to have a party for him... not every year.. you will need to share that. Holidays should be split equally also. Get the new lawyer, be a father to your son as he deserves to know you. Check online for the fathers right organization as they may be able to offer you more assistance then we can. My kids dad was alwasy absent and I know the kids suffer because of it. Go for it Dad.. I applaud you!!

modification is a good start. in your spare time contact your state bar association and file a complaint against your past attorney. I did this and was awarded all my fees and half of my payments back on support, etc. I was also given a new trial date which turned out amicable. Hang in there it's an up hill battle, but if want what is fair for all parties, stay the course. I hope this helped a little.

Visitation isn't so that you've a babysitter that you do not ought to pay. in case you want a babysitter on your infant I recommend you employ one. If the daddy won't be able to work out his infant on the appointed days he needs to bypass and performance the visitation agenda redone. the incontrovertible actuality that the daddy's agenda inconveniences you is too undesirable. employ a sitter then. And no, if there's a court docket order of visitation you do not have the right to keep the youngster from his father. in case you try the daddy has the right to have you ever charged with conempt of court docket that could land you in penal complicated. I recommend that in case you want the order of visitation replaced that you communicate consisting of your lawyer.

If it's what you really want then go for it. So many dead beat dad's out there and you do hear from a few that do want their kids and mom is just a liar to any and all that will half listen to them. I applaud you in your wanting to be a Father to your son and I hope and pray you win!
