What about King Alfred and the Cakes. The Saxon King is defeated by the Danes and driven into the Somerset marshes. While staying in a peasant woman's hut he is asked to mind the loafs of bread but is thinking so hard he allows them to burn. He eventually rebuilds his army and defeats the Danish King, forcing him to convert to Christianity.
