So, my partner and I have our EIN number. Just no articles of incorporation. We faxed the paperwork to the appropriate number which is the last instruction that we got. We told the state the percentages owned, etc. and now need to open a bank account. Can't do that without the articles of incorporation... How do we get them? Make em up and submit them to the state? Wait for them to be sent to us? We used an online company to incorporate us, so we don't have an attorney to ask, just thought someone here might know.... Thanks if you do!

The company you hired for incorporation must have sent you articles of incorporation. Ask them.

I don't get it...what did the on-line company do for you? If they incorporated you, they should have filed articles of incorporation with your state's secretary of state, and you should have gotten a copy of that paperwork.

Simply getting a EIN number from the IRS does not mean you are incorporated. Technically, you should not have gotten the number until you were incorporated.

Go back through the stuff you were sent from the on-line company and/or check their website some more. If they did not prepare articles of incorporation, get your money back!

Some of my customers are in the same situation. The online company should have sent you the recorded copies of the Articles. If not, try the California Secretary of State website. This is public information and most states will allow you to view the documents online. If not, give the business division of the Secretary of State a call for an update on the status.
