You can't speed up healing, but there are things that can slow it down. Patience is key with piercings.

Skip the ointment, it helps, but it can be too harsh and irritate the piercing and maybe even slow healing. Also avoid peroxide, alcohol and other harsh cleaners because while they work for some, they tend to dry out piercings, dry and crack the skin and slow healing. Better safe than sorry, don't use them!

All you need to do is wash the area twice daily with a mild antibacterial soap (Dial) and rinse well with water. Use a sea salt soak 3-4 times a week

When you are active, tape gauze over the piercing do keep most dirt and sweat from getting on the area and it will reduce the risk of the piercing being pulled out. Excess movement can add to the risk for migration or rejection, just keep an eye on the placement of the piercing and how much of the jewelry is visible. Try to take it easy for the first month of the piercing.

When you are done working out or whatever, wash the piercing immediately.

You'll know if you get an infection because the surrounding skin will be red and cracked/dry, there will be bleeding and greenish colored pus and plenty of pain. If you ever become concerned, talk to your piercer.

After the piercing stops oozing and crusting up, you can reduce cleaning to daily and after you work out.

The piercing will take AT LEAST 6 months to heal but can take up to a year for some! Keep in mind the outside will look healed but the inside may not be. Be patient and at the first sight of problems or concerns you really should contact your piercer and show them the area.

You can't really make it heal any faster. Clean it morning and night with Dial antibacterial handsoap, and do sea salt soaks:

Take a cup and put a little bit of sea salt at the bottom, and then put some warm water in it. Then lean over the cup, and it'll suction to your stomach slighty, and you can lay down and watch TV or something. You only need to do it for about 10 minutes. You should rinse the salt out, but it won't hurt you.. It might only irritate it.

Ointment keeps the piercing moist, which will help breed bacteria. I would just stick to cleaning it every day, making sure you don't touch it, and when you have to, wash your hands with the Dial soap, first.

To keep it from getting infected, continue to use your antibacterial ointment. Also, change your bed sheets at least once a week, don't play with your peircing, don't use rubbing alcohol on it, and don't remove the piercing.

just keep it clean and dont let your clothes catch on it if you can help it (maybe a big bandage during a game). when you're done being sweaty, clean it.

have had mine for 7 years now, never a problem.
