you should ask the English as they are invaders to our country [which they now call England] called us "welash" God only knows what that translates to from the Nordic, which was just one of the languages the mongrels which became the English spoke, other languages were French, German,Latin etc. this land must have been awfully desirable then, obviously since then they have ruined it with their industrial revolution and pollution, not to mention burning down all the glorious forestry that was here before they came along with their sheep, [which they brought for their own satisfaction before they realised that you could eat them!!!] AND FLOODING OUR VALLEYS! no wonder they wont give us Independence, they would have to pay for their water, they would have to pay for visas so they could visit their second homes! and that's just for starters, and the list goes on
ergo; the English are the original "sheepshaggers" and invaders

Welsh is what the Anglo-Saxons called the original Celtic British inhabitants of much of Britain when they invaded in the 5th Century. It means "foreigner" and Wales is "the land of the foreigner". The Welsh call themselves Cymri and their country Cymru.
